Golf Clinic with Pat PerezEveryone had a great time golfing at Morgan Run in our 2012 Golf Classic. We were able to raise money for Operation Game On and increase awareness.

A big thanks to the troops, their wives, friends, our sponsors, volunteers and staff for helping put on another wonderful event. Special thanks to Pat Perez for making special travel arrangements after playing in the PGA Championship late Sunday in South Carolina, to be here to lend his time and support.

As the banquet festivities began we were touched by a ‘from the heart’ endorsement by Brigadier General Daniel D. Yoo Commanding General, USMC. What a great honor!

Another great honor was bestowed upon everyone that night. Besides the great food, the auction and many prizes; the Wives of Warriors received flower bouquets from their husbands in a touching gesture. It was fitting after we watched the premier of this video that shows why this charity exists.

Take a moment to watch this video to better understand what this charity is about.

Event for injured troops breaks records

RANCHO SANTA FE — The Operation Game On Golf Classic continued to break records this year, selling out in less than three weeks, attracting major sponsors from outside California and for the first time featuring wives playing alongside their husbands. Now in its fifth year — and third at Morgan Run Club & Resort — the tournament raises funds for a golf rehabilitation program for combat-injured troops.

With two $10,000 contributions from donors in New Jersey and Arizona, 160 golfers who paid $300 each, raffles and an auction, founder Tony Perez said he raised approximately $75,000 this year, a $35,000 increase over 2011. Proceeds from the Aug. 13 event will go toward lessons, specially fitted clubs, reduced green fees and playing opportunities for soldiers returning from Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom with physical and mental challenges who are going through rehabilitation at Naval Medical Center San Diego.

Special thanks to Mark Dastrup for being our on-course photographer again this year. He really captured some special moments and the many great people that were at this event.
